FENG SHUI IN THE YEAR OF THE RED ROOSTER

According to Chinese astrology the year of the Red Rooster is starting on the 28th of January 2017 and it will end on the 27h of February 2018.

How to harmonize the astral energies in our houses working with Feng Shui in the year of the Red Rooster.

People born between 31st January 1957 and 17th February 1958 are Rooster + Fire element (Red Rooster).

Also people born in 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005 belong to Rooster sign, but with a different combination with the Earthly Branches, so they are dependent on other energies within the cycle of the 5 elements.

In Western Zodiac the Red Rooster corresponds to Virgo.

In the East, the most popular story on the Rooster is the one that tells how he was chosen along with the other animals by the Jade Emperor to create the so-called Chinese Zodiac.

The Red Rooster year promotes professional and business interests, especially with regard to the psycho-physical well-being, aesthetics, food and beverage consumption. On a political level nationalism is favored as well as violent conflicts are not excluded. In general, family harmony and affection will not be facilitated, while hard work, practicality, discipline, conscientiousness can grow.

The signs which may profit most from 2017 are – in addition to the Rooster – the Ox (1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009) and the Snake (1929, 1941, 1953, 1965,197, 1989, 2001, 2013), which in Western tradition correspond to Capricorn and Taurus respectively.

The most penalized sign is the Hare (1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011) but also the Rat and the Horse may meet some difficulties.

The main features of the Red Rooster are professionalism, competitiveness, moral rigor, ambition, sophistication, all induced by the male energy of Fire, symbolized in Taoism by burning wood. Defects are communication, which can be often rough, and lack of patience.

Keywords for 2017 may be Ambition in the professional sphere and Conservation in the political one: thanks to the stability and concreteness in the work of the Red Rooster you can reach important economic goals, but at the cost of authoritarian and conservative decisions at the political level because of an increasing moral rigor and stiffness.

HOW TO HARMONIZE THE ASTRAL ENERGIES OF OUR HOUSES WORKING WITH FENG SHUI IN THE YEAR OF THE RED ROOSTER.

The direction of the Earthly Branch corresponding to the Rooster is 270°, while its element is Metal.

So, whatever our sign is, in order to harmonize the astral energies of our houses in the new Chinese year, we should support the right direction (270°) and element (Metal); but, since the combination of the year with the 12 Earthly Branches corresponds to Fire, we should also take into consideration this last element which, as regards to Metal, is in ‘overcoming role’ in the Cycle of 5 Elements.

To go into details, the direction 270° has to be meant as an angle of 30° included between 255° and 285° within the Chinese Compass (Ba Gua). Since South (Fire) is at 180° and West (Metal) at 270°, the main direction of 2017 will be just one of the Rooster, that is exactly to the West.

The directions of 2017 in the Ba Gua for the Red Rooster

Considering that the interested elements are Fire and Metal, while the direction concerns the West which is Metal, we will enhance the Fire-Earth-Metal energy chain, as in the year of the Monkey, but this time with more attention to Metal, and also casting an eye to Water energy too which is its daughter, energetically speaking.

Then in the Ba Gua we have to spot the areas of our houses corresponding to South, South-West and West directions and check if colors, materials and shapes harmonize with the cycle of 5 Elements; and empower it where we notice some weakness.

As for the year of the Red Monkey, we should be able to combine lights and bright colors (red, yellow, orange, purple) to more autumnal colors (ocher, brown) starting from  south-southwest and going towards the southwest-west, while the shapes must change from the  sharpest (triangles, pyramids, zigzags) to the  flattest ones  (low rectangles and squares). This year, however, attention should be paid to Metal energy: we have to work in the West direction with colors and Metal materials (gold, silver, bronze) while the  shapes to be preferred are those circular and oval ones. Shades of yellow, white and red can be used in decorations with metalized paint.

These are general indications but, as we’ve pointed out in other sections of this site, it is advisable to provide for the proper treatment of each house according to its peculiar features and to its residents.
